Briggs and Al’s Run & Walk — Owenge Warrior Walkers

Once we got Owen’s heart beat back, he was taken to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.  There, Owen spent the last five days of his life on the fifth floor.  Our family was blessed by the staff and their generosity to make the ‘best’ of his last days.  Our simplest wish was granted: do you have feathers so we can make him a head dress?  It was small and foolish, but it brought us a few laughs as we prepared to say goodbye to our Owen.

I’ve heard of this walk before, but I never gave a second thought to participating.  An internet friend set up a group and we are walking in memory of our Owen.  With hopes of raising money for this magical hospital, where dreams are made true – whether it’s the life of your child being saved, more time, or feathers to make your dying child a head dress.

Please do ME the honor and walk with us if you can.  It’s a chance to pay back for some of the gifts we have received through this.  We want to paint the streets of Milwaukee OWENGE!

  2. I would love to participate in the walk with you all. What is the date? I didn’t see anything about when this will be. Owenge Warrior Walker

  3. My nephew spent 3 months at Children’s (Sept-Dec 2010) when he was born with 4 heart defects. The cardio NICU helped him pull thru and now he’s a healthy little 11 month old. We thank God every day for Children’s and will be walking on behalf of our little Stevie. (well, I won’t be walking, as I’ll be ready to deliver my baby any day, but my family is walking). We are all glad for the opportunity to help Children’s out so they can continue their blessed work! 🙂

  4. I love this picture. I think he looks the most like you of the three of them. He has your beautiful, genuine, happy smile. I keep you, Owen, and your family in my prayers. 🙂

  5. Gorgeous photo and great post, as always. Your story is truly an inspiration and I sincerely thank you for sharing it with all of us. Your blog is one of my favorites and is listed as such on my sidebar. I splashed a little Owenge on my blog, today, linking back to this post. You and your beautiful family are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Kate
