Bildas Tomorrow!!

Tomorrow is the second fundraiser for Owens charitable trust. I’m getting really excited. My heart fluttered with pride at last one. The turn out was amazing!

Last night we met out at Patty’s house to make cake pops to sell tomorrow. It was a blast! There was good snacks, good company, a little wine, music and I got to talk a lot about Owen. I didn’t realize how long it had been since I told the story until I started. Then there was no stopping me. I retold the story of the funeral, how Doug carried his casket to the alter, the sea of orange, unfolding the Paul, the bagpiper. I told the story of how the blog spread like wild fire, the radio show, how amazing childrens hospital is. It brought back some of those feelings but it felt good to feel a few of them again.

Bildas starts at 1pm tomorrow! We’ve got hooded sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, tshirts, tumblers with bottomless soda, beaded bracelets, silicone bracelets and keychains, facepainting, dunk tank, live band …. The list goes on.

A huge heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has helped to pull this off — my family, Patty, Mandy, Jessie, anne, Jennie, Marcia, Cory (all the way from Colorado!!), the volunteers who have given two hours of their day to help. A big thanks to bildas for hosting this great opportunity.

The weather looks great! Owen will be smiling down tomorrow…miss you little dude. Hope to see there!!

Love, Mel

  1. I just read your site- the entire site.. Over two days.
I cried, hugged my kids, cried some more and realized that you are SUCH a strong mom, and all of your boys are so lucky to have you 🙂
I just wanted to leave you a comment to let you know that this site you have is really helping people.
It is helping moms that have dealt with something similar to you-
and it is helping moms who have not- like myself, realize they need to hug their babies more

  2. Mel,
I hope that bildas turned out great. I wish I could have made it, I can;t wait to see the pics soon. I’m sure Owen was there smiling and so very proud of you. Its good that u were able to talk about his story and feel good doing it. sometimes u need to be able to talk about it so u be ok. God bless Mel.

  3. I hope Bilda’s was a HUGE success for you!! It was our annual girls weekend, otherwise I think we would have taken a two hour road trip to come down there for the fundraiser!

  4. I feel like we did Owen proud! I loved watching so many families dressed in OWENge walking up the road because there was no parking available. Such a sight.
